Submissions
We take pitches and submissions for each issue of the magazine. You can pitch for any issue as long as you are before the deadline date. And we prefer early pitches!
YOur VIEWS
We are looking for first-person articles about your ‘raising boys for gender equality’ journey.
Submissions must be roughly 500 words, or can also take the form of photoessays, illustrations or other visual forms.
PiTCHES
We will also accept relevant longer form article pitches for these issues. We will consider pitches from relevant child-focused businesses too. We are particularly interested in gender equality of course, but will also be glad to look at pitches on all aspects of equality.
The themes for 2024 are:
Spring issue 23: What to say when...?
PITCH DEADLINE November 30
How to respond to the common (and not so common) comments we all get about gender equality and parenting (including how to challenge schools or clubs, how to talk to your family members and how to help your child navigate concepts and current affairs)
Summer issue 24: Boys vs girls?
PITCH DEADLINE: January 30
We want to explore the idea in society that there is a competition between girls and boys - and how to approach unpacking this complex problem with children.
Autumn issue 25: Growing Up
PITCH DEADLINE: May 30
Looking at our children’s developmental stages, from babies and toddlers to 'middle childhood'/ tweens.
We also take pitches that are not on our theme topic, so do try us if you have a burning passion for an article.
While we’d like to, we cannot guarantee to publish all pitches and submissions.
Send us your pitch or submission in via this form or email it as an editable word doc to pitch@sonshinemagazine.com Please use the subject line PITCH - and if relevant the issue you’re pitching for.
We pay £25 for Your Views submissions of 300-500 words, and up to £80 for around 1000 words researched and reported articles. Longer articles are negotiated fees. We don't pay for articles that promote your business.
Look forward to hearing from you!
