Arianna Huffington asks if parents need to look at their own screen use… This article raises her concerns about how distracted we can all be by our screens.


Try mentoring, not monitoring. That’s the advice from NPR after they visit a family who have some serious issues with their screen use.

This lovely article gives us all a bit of hope. Joi Ito found that screens actually led to more connection with his daughter, and makes a case for the de-stigmatisation of screens. The part where he describes his daughter bopping to Elmo while his mother joins in from Japan is a high point.

Join in! Toddler screen time should be interactive and it’s parents that make it interactive - ‘interact with your child around screens just like you would interact with your child around any kind of media, whether it’s a book, or art material.’


No screens before bedtime. We could all take heed of that advice I’m sure…
